Post-holiday detox is one of the best tools for getting your shape and health on track after indulging. Here are a few simple practices that can help you get yourself moving in the right direction once again.

#1. Re-Hydrate

Believe it or not, water is your biggest ally in the process of making a cleanse after holidays. All the holidays you consumed (i.e., eggnog, alcohol, etc.) are probably dehydrating and caloric. Therefore, it is important to create the habit of drinking 64 ounces or so a day. To do so, keep a bottle of clean water nearby wherever you go or set a timer to remind you to drink a glass of water every 30 min.

#2. Evaluate Your Diet

If you want to make a detox after vacation, then you will need to re-think what you eat. It is not uncommon for people to eat a lot of carbs and sweets during the holidays. Unfortunately, this can create a lot of cravings afterwards.

It might sound counterintuitive but a good night’s sleep is what will make your detox after the holidays much more successful. During the holidays we often stay up late. Then we usually sleep in the next day. Nevertheless, it is crucial to aim at a circadian rhythm if you want to restore balance.

#5. Adjust Your Routine

Getting your health and shape on track does not always mean returning to your pre-holiday habits and routines. Once the holidays are over, you can re-organize your routine so that it is even more effective. For instance, doing exercise in the morning might be healthy. However, if it stresses you out because you easily end up late for work, then it might be a better idea to do it later on during the day.
